Columbia police have arrested two teenagers in connection with a shooting incident early Friday morning at the Granby Mills apartment complex, officials announced.
Richard Gainey III and Harlen Shumaker, both 19, have been charged with pointing and presenting a firearm, discharging a firearm within city limits and unlawful carrying of a pistol. They are currently being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
Law enforcement officials say Gainey and Shumaker are roommates at the complex, which mostly houses college students. Citing witnesses, police alleged that the two got into a fight with other residents outside the building in the early hours of Friday then went inside to retrieve their firearms and returned to continue the confrontation. They then fired their weapons into the air multiple times, police say.
