South Carolina mom, Bernadette Renae Owens, was arrested and charged with unlawful conduct towards a child after her 11-year-old son accidentally shot and killed her 10-year-old daughter. The children were left alone on October 5th and were playing with the gun when the girl was fatally shot. WJCL reports on this story: Hanahan police say the children were playing with it when the girl, Cabriya Lucas, was shot. She died before police arrived. Owens was arrested the next day and released after posting $80,000 bail. Chief Dennis Turner says police delayed announcing the arrest while the investigation was ongoing.
Police declined to say who is caring for the boy.
