An incident in Anderson on Tuesday night left one man dead, one woman wounded, and a K9 with fatal injuries.
Sheriff's deputies attempted to pull a vehicle over for speeding which resulted in a brief chase that was then called off. The car later rear-ended a taxi and the suspects ran from the scene.
Deputies brought a K9 to track down the suspects, and they were ambushed by gunfire in a Lowe's parking lot. One suspect was killed by a shot to the head.
The K9, a 3-year-old German Shepherd named Roscoe, died of his injuries Wednesday morning. No deputies were injured.
